La première vague de départ pour ces vacances d’été 2009 est attendue pour ce premier weekend de juillet. On prévoit près de 1,3 millions de clients dans les gares et autres trains du réseaux SNCF. Près de 680.000 voyageurs transiteront dans les gares parisiennes, en particulier dans les gares de Paris Montparnasse, pour les destinations pour l’ouest de la France (la Bretagne ainsi que toute la façade Atlantique) et de Paris Gare de Lyon pour les destinations au Sud-Est de la France (Alpes, Provence Côte d’Azur, et le Languedoc Roussillon). À l’occasion de ces grands départs, la SNCF mobilise l’ensemble de son personnel ainsi que son matériel pour optimiser le transport des vacanciers.
